Motocross in Cape Town is fast gaining momentum and this positive
development has given rise to a renewed interest from numerous facets
to see racing taken to another level within the region. Dean Hoffman,
who has earned the reputation as a top MX coach and who is well
respected within the MX community, earlier today announced that
the Dean Hoffman Racing Team had been formed.
The team has secured a number of sponsors who will be announced
at an official launch early in February. The team has also formed
strategic alliances with another development team as well as dealers
and suppliers within the motocross fraternity. The initial riders
who will be in Hoffman’s stable are:
1. Dylan Stokes – 125cc
High school class
2. Matt Van Galen – 125cc
high school class (development)
3. Justin Sangster – 65cc
levers (national) and 85cc (regional). The WOMZA 2012 SA 50cc Pro
Senior National Champion
4. Ike Klaassen – 50cc
Pro Senior (national) and 65cc (regional)
Dean believes that these four riders will be able to dominate their
respective regional classes and will be serious contenders in the
WOMZA 2013 national series. The team will enjoy the expertise of
Rob van Uden, a respected Dutch coach and ex GP rider, who will
be working with Dean on certain sand and riding techniques during
the first week of February. Two of the riders will also be racing
and will undergo more training in Belgium in June and July this
year.
Dean had the following to say
– “We must nurture and develop our local talent to
the extent that the riders realise their full potential”
The team will be run professionally and will enjoy the services
of a race secretary and a media expert who will profile the riders
in terms of their individual racing goals and objectives. “Discipline,
commitment and determination will be the key values of the team”
says Hoffman.
