Race Report: The Fast Rockstar Kawasaki MX Team in Port Elizabeth
7 March 2014

The event was really well run, nicely organised and well attended. Although for the team, this was possibly one of the hardest weekends of racing we have endured since our start. The track was prepped completely differently to every other year. All the technical parts of the track were removed, making it a super fast track for the weekends racing.

Wyatt Avis #50:
Saturday - "The day started pretty good with the fastest time in qualifying. I didn't get such a good start and ended up going down in turn 2, when a slower rider fell in front of me. I was disappointed with my riding after the crash. I ended up riding a little tight but tomorrow is another day with another 2 heats."
Sunday - "Im super bummed about today. Finished 4th in moto 1 after a crash. Had a bike problem in moto 3 and couldn't finish the race. Its been a rough weekend. Just have to just keep doing the work! Cape Town I will be back on form."

Lloyd Vercueil #777:
Saturday - "Saturday started well, I was feeling good on the bike and was enjoying the track. In the first moto on Saturday I had a decent start and worked my way up to 3rd. Trying to pass for second I had a big crash going thru a rough section of the track which left me down for a long time. My bike twisted up and my body beat up I was unable to keep riding and unfortunately got a DNF."
Lloyd suffered heavy bruising to his ribs in this crash. We were unsure if he would be able to keep riding on Sunday.
Sunday - "Sunday morning I taped myself up and tried to ride. I managed to pull off the holeshot but made a small mistake in the first turn and dropped to 3rd, I quickly regrouped and moved into second and started to closed down on the leader, when trying to move into the lead I lost the front end and put it down. I got up quickly and got going in 5th, moved into 4th and was still right in the front group when my grip came off on the face of a jump causing me to have another big crash. I almost got landed on myself but my bike took the punishment. There was no way I could finish. The radiators, levers, Bars etc were all broken. In the final moto, beat up and sore I had to borrow a bike and went out and rode a steady race and managed a 4th Place finish.
We am very proud of Lloyd for pushing till the very end. He really showed huge amounts of heart this weekend. These are the types of things that make champions.

Marc Baxter #26:
Marc had a really tough weekend, the MX2 class was stacked with fast riders. He fell off in the start of the first moto and was almost a full lap behind. He dug deep and managed to get back to a 16th place finish out of 28 riders. Overall Marc placed 13th in MX2 for the weekend. Marc also rode MX1 this weekend, but he rode the class on his 250f. He rode exceptionally well and placed 5th overall.
Well done Marc!
