A new generation of riders get their first race experience with MX SA’s ‘Moto Kids’.

JOHANNESBURG, GAUTENG, 2015 – MX SA kicked off its brand new Junior Rider Development Fun Series called Moto Kids with an incredible 24 kids ranging from 4 to 12 years old. Using a similar format that we developed for the ladies over the past few years with Diamonds & Dirt, the kids had a series of fun races based on skill level including both MX and Enduro. Round 1 took place at Chestnut Hill on 29 March and is in association with Motorsport South Africa (MSA).

It was difficult to tell who was more excited, the parents, or the kids, or us but by the end of the day it was clear that everyone had a great time. For many of the kids it was their first time in any kind of race situation and from the absolute beginners to kids who are ready to start racing we had some intense racing.

We had a total of eight classes based on age and bike size who were then divided into two groups. For the MX the beginner group with the peewees and the kids new on their KTM’s raced on the flat track and the older and more advanced kids raced on the Junior MX Track. The same two groups got their first taste of off road racing as they were guided around the little out loop with our marshals for their enduro race.

With so many amazing young riders participating in this first event, we feel that each and every one of them was truly a winner. The excitement and sense of accomplishment that you could see in their faces were absolutely incredible.

Words cannot describe what an incredible day we had and we would like to thank all the juniors and their parents that attended, all the friends and family that came out to support and to everyone that helped, we can’t wait for the next round. Keep an eye on our Social Media and web sites for news for round two in the coming weeks.
