After the success of Round 1, Moto Kids saw more entries
for the second round.
Syringa MX Park played host on 17 May to Round 2 of the Junior
Rider Development Fun Series called Moto Kids. In association
with Motorsport South Africa (MSA) this project that is part
of Motocross SA, saw 34 kids in attendance aged between 4
and 11 years old. With 10 more kids in attendance from round
1, it is a very promising sign of what Junior Rider Development
can do for the sport.
We had a total of 7 classes based on age and bike size who
were then divided into three groups. Everyone was very excited
but also very nervous to be riding the big MX track for the
first time. For the Peewee’s the track length was reduced,
but the little guys and girls got a real sense of what the
big track feels like to race.
The nerves showed for some in the first heat races while others
just seemed to take to it easily. In heat two though it was
a different story as everyone was now comfortable and the
racing was incredible from peewee all the way up to 65cc.
Once again we offered the kids a small enduro loop. They have
very quickly shown us that we are going to have to make things
a little more challenging in future, as they show no fear
and have adapted very easily.
We would like to thank all the kids that took part, their
parents, friends and family that came out to support and to
everyone that helped.
We are constantly looking for the best way to improve and
streamline the events for everyone and as each event passes
we achieve a little bit more along those lines. Each and every
rider walked away with a reason to smile and we hope to see
them all back for Round 3 in July.
Keep an eye out on social media and the MX SA web site for
news closer to the time.
Huge thanks to Jackie Reymann from Valvoline SA, Wayne
Kreunen from e-CAR head office and e-CAR VSB Auto Electrical
& Fitment Centre for the incredible prizes for the kids.
We must say thanks to Jannie for Syringa as well as his staff
for making it an incredible day out for everyone. Thanks to
SuperBike Magazine for advertising Moto Kids for us!
Some awesome Valvoline products sponsored as prizes for
the day!
