JOHANNESBURG, GAUTENG, 2015 – In association with Motorsport
South Africa (MSA) and Women in Motorsport (WIM), Syringa
played host on 19 September to Round 3 of the Diamonds &
Dirt Amateur ladies fun race series. A more streamlined day
programme gave the ladies a chance to sleep in a bit and get
ready for their race day.
They day for the ladies kicked off with MX. We welcomed some
new ladies to the beginner group and had some incredible racing
to watch as the first three ladies remained almost within
one bike length of one another. It was Aimee O’Neill
that held out to take both wins and the overall for the day
with Tanya Luas in second, Karen Neville in third and newcomer
Charissa Heath in fourth.
In the Intermediate MX group it was Leyah Bresler that once
again dominated. This young lady has improved so much this
year, it is incredible to see. She cannot afford to get too
comfortable though as Angelique Lindeque and Jennifer Neville
are chasing her down and things will heat up in the final
round for sure. Leyah took first for the day with Angelique
in second and Jennifer in third.
In the advanced MX group it was Adel Pieroni chasing after
Natasha Rugani. Adel who seems to find herself chasing Natasha
more often then not, has progressed so much as a rider that
it is great to watch her ride.
We put together an extremely fun enduro loop this time for
the ladies. It included some forest, some mx track, some enduro
cross from every corner of the Syringa premises. It was a
tough ride for the ladies and fitness played a big part in
getting through the laps.
In the Beginner Enduro group we welcomed two new ladies and
we were pleasantly surprised at how well they adapted and
put in an excellent run. It just shows us the capabilities
of the ladies out there that are riding socially. It was Karen
Neville that this time took the overall with Aimee O’Neill
in second, Vicki Marsh in third and Amelia De Lange in fourth.
The Intermediate Enduro was a very competitive race with the
three MX girls chasing each other down. This time it was Angelique
Lindeque that put in a very strong run and a well earned first
place. Leyah Bresler took second and Jennifer Neville took
third.
In the Advanced Enduro the two year battle continued between
Cathlene Roos and Adel Pieroni. Catz had a great lead but
made a mistake that cost her the lead as Adel took the opportunity
to pull away. It was another great race and Adel took first
overall with Catz in second and newcomer Chloe Neville taking
third.
We would like to thank all the ladies that took part, their
friends and family that came out to support and to everyone
that helped. We look forward to seeing you all at the final
round later this year.
A big thanks to Fox and 32Gi for the incredible prizes
for the ladies. Huge thanks to Jackie Reymann from Valvoline
SA, Wayne Kreunen from e-CAR head office and e-CAR VSB Auto
Electrical & Fitment Centre for the incredible prizes
for the ladies. We must say thanks to Jannie for Syringa as
well as his staff for making it an incredible day out for
everyone.
Some awesome Valvoline products sponsored as prizes for
the day!
